OPERATION STRAWBERRY: Mission Orders

Background

There has been an accident on Mesa, the second moon of Dolha VI. This has occurred on a top secret Imperial Intelligence research establishment.

We do not wish to use civilian agencies to assist here, and given the extreme danger of the situation, it has been decided to use the marine regiment with the highest security clearance that is immediately available. The Governor has given approval for the 130th Regiment and the ESS Precision Creek to be used for this mission.

Situation

The Anomalous Material Lab was conducting classified high energy research (the details you do not need to know). This has gone wrong, and many of the lab's employees were killed in the resulting explosion and reactor leak.

Background on the Lab

Our interplanetary shuttles have recovered those on the surface who survived the initial explosions, but there are a number of sub-surface chambers that might still house survivors.

Mission

To enter the sub-surface area of the labs and recover as many of the survivors as possible.

Hostile Forces

We have not ruled out the possibility of sabotage, though there is no evidence at present one way or another. Shipping is not permitted with 0.2 AU of the moon, so external infiltration or attack is deemed unlikely.

There is also no evidence of forerunner artefacts either now or during the building of the base, so the likelihood of encountering forerunner technology (or genesplice 9 entities) is regarded as very low.

Attached Forces

You have the services of Dr Matik, Prof of Dimensional Physics of Centissimo University, who has the necessary security clearance and will be the mission technical expert.

In addition we are attaching three Imperial Intelligence Agents (Codenames Scarlet, Green and Orange), who are fully briefed and who will be providing background information on an 'as needed' basis.
