From: Maj/Gen Skinner
To: Capt A Gator, EN
cc: Fenrir Planning Group
Skinner: I expect to be able to release to the Fenrir Planning Group the agreed plan for the ground attack of Operation Fenrir within hours. Captain Gator should be aware that the plan will be for a two-wave attack, first to secure the outside of the MCC, the second to attack underground to capture it.
Gator: Having now established what the pax and reload requirements of Marine Regiments are I realised that we also need to insert HQ elements. What size are the Brigade and Divisional HQs going to be and how many are likely to want to be on the surface?
Skinner: There is no existing supra-Regimental command structure, so all these positions will of necessity be filled by Regimental officers.
Therefore there is no additional call upon Logs. BrigHQs will be drawn from the officers of the Regiments making them up, according to the orders of the Brigadier commanding. I expect that the core of each BrigHQ will be the RegHQ of the Lead Regiment, i.e, the Regiment of which the Brigadier is or was also Colonel. Divisional HQ will be drawn from elements of 4th Brigade with liaison attachments (details to follow) around a core of the HQ and A Coy of 705 Regiment.

All Marines will want to be on the surface as that is where the fighting will be! We will rely on our Navy colleagues to monitor from orbit and keep us informed.
>Gator: It looks like the small shuttles are best operating in squadrons of 18, this size can happily lift the combat elements of an Esteeler >Regiment and has some spare capacity for supercharges etc, or even for spreading the Regiment around several shuttles.
Skinner: I rely upon your judgement on this point.
