BOARDING OF THE ESS AGAMEMNON BY UNIDENTIFIED ALIEN SPECIES

1. EXTRACT

Four Alien creatures boarded the Agamemnon from the recovered Serenity Station Pacifier. These were destroyed by Marine Squad C8 after some difficulty in locating them. Three Damage Control Crew were killed by the Aliens.

2. NARRATIVE

The Serenity Station Pacifier was recovered from a drifting condition, with no response from the pilot. The unconscious pilot was removed to the Sick Bay. Here an unidentified Alien, insectoid biped burst from the chest of the pilot and escaped into the air duct system on Deck 2. This Alien was not detected by the ship's location sensors.

In response to this, I ordered the depressurization of the ship, and then the re-pressurization of selected compartments with nitrogen to indicate if the Alien had entered it. I also ordered the SofTechs to reprogram the ships sensors to attempt to detect the Alien.

After some minutes delay, the situation was rapidly resolved: The inner door of the Fusion Core Observation Room was breached, and the inner door of the Deck 2 EAL was also breached. Squad C8 was deployed in the Deck 2 gangways; 1 section destroyed a large Alien attempting to breach the Sick Bay door by SCA fire. The 2nd section moved to the Power Maintenance Centre and destroyed an even larger Alien in the Observation Room. Squad C8 moved to Shaft A and destroyed 2 more Aliens that had broken through the doors on Deck 2.

3. CASUALTIES

A search of recovered Pacifier discovered the bodies of 3 DCP crew.  These had been killed in the same way as the Pacifier pilot. There were no other casualties.

4. ESS AGAMEMNON TACTICS USED

The ship was depressurised and then partially re-pressurised with nitrogen. The crew remained at their duty stations, with the exception that Lt Dibbler was relocated with Group C HQ. Wirepods were deployed on Deck 2. Group C engaged the Aliens with SCA fire, by sections, when their location was identified as they breached doors.

5. ENEMY TACTICS USED

The full grown Aliens are capable of breaching ships doors. The 4 Aliens engaged breached 3 doors and attempted 2 others before being destroyed. Reports from Serenity Station state that the full grown Alien is capable of inflicting casualties on Marines in armour in close combat, but have no ranged weapon.

6. ENEMY TYPES ENCOUNTERED

All the Alien forms encountered are capable of functioning in hard vacuum, and are not detected by ships' sensors.

6.1 Proto-Adult = the small lizard like form that bursts from the trunk of casualty. Reports from Serenity Station state that these enter the victim, 'fired' from an egg at a range of some 10 metres. Capable of moving through ships' air ducts.

6.2 Adult = fast, aggressive, carnivorous; capable of causing Marine casualties, and breaching ships doors and Wirepods.

7. CONCLUSIONS

The Alien life cycle appears to be from Egg, to Proto-Adult which requires a victim's body, to Adult. Reports from Serenity Station state that there is also a Breeder or 'Queen' type. The growth rate of this Alien species appears phenomenally rapid.

[Conclusions on Marine tactics will be reported by Major Patel.]
Short range scan of drifting pacifier taken just before it was recovered.  The docking bay entrance to Serenity Station can been seen in the background.

8. RECOMMENDATIONS

8.1 That a Location Sensor capable of detecting all forms of the Aliens be developed.

8.2 Major Patel is commended for the decisive way that Group C was deployed to promptly eliminate the Aliens; an enemy type not previously encountered.

8.3 Lt Kampf and Sgt Krieg are commended for their initiative and leadership in hunting the 4 Alien adults to destruction.
