group originally founded by all the unreconstructed socialists and communists
of old Earth. Their political views have modified a little over
the interveneing centuries, adapting to the nature of interstellar trade
and expansion, but they remain an independent grouping.
They rely more heavily than the other groupings on robot technology due to a lower population, and a continuing commitment to the comfort of the working classes.
In addition, their political system is very bureaucratic and formal - with an inefficiency that is legendary.
