Solar Space Patrol

Security organisation operating in the Solar System

This was the first recorded international space police service, created in 2760. Using small ships agile, the crews were formed from spacers from Earth, Mars and Venus Orbital .

They operated in interplanetary space and provided protection for outlying mining operations as far out as the orbit of Pluto and in orbit around Earth, Mars and Venus.

The founder of the organisation Colonel Raeburn, is known for managing to achieve csufficient consensus among the dispart elements and grouping in the system to maintain the Solar Space Patrol's authority across multiple legal juridications, as well as all important funding.

The most common type of patrol craft was known as the Galasphere Class, which was able to maintain constant thrust of 0.2 G, with boosts of up to 1G for short periods.

The Solar Space Patrol operated on an increasing scale up to the period of the Second Great Dark Age on Earth (which began in 2831). Funding from Earth dried up, and the emerging off world communities were become less and less interested in join ventures such as the SSP.

By 2832 the SSP was a shadow if its former self. At this time, its crews were predominately Martian, and the rmaining ships and personnel organisation was quitely folded into a Martian defence organisation that eventually became the Mars Star
Navy.

The last Galasphere-class patrol ship know to be in operation, Number 347, still exists and is the MSN Museum of Freedom, on New Mars.
