Political Structure

This world has a federated structure, made up of the three main originating colonies - these are :
Yellow Exploration Association (initial investment from LifeTree Interstellar, largely colonists from the GFA)
Purple Hat Colony (initial investment from Priest Engineering, largely colonists from Venerian colony worlds)
The Ground Colony (initial investment from Advanced Industrial Mechanics, largely colonists from the SSR).

Religion

There are 4 major religions: Muslim, Satanist, Elvists, and Way of Enlightened Humanity.
About 30% of the population are reported as having no religion.

Governance

Planetary Federation of Colonies is ruled by a Supreme Colonial Council (SCC), which has representatives from each of the founding colonies.
Under the Provisional Plenatary Constitution of 3221, each colony has a number of represenatives based on their population on stardate 3220.200. The precise makup of the SCC has been a point of tension in the past, and heated debate and discussion continues over a final version of the planetary consitution.

As at 3232 the Executive Association (cabinet) of the SCC had the following offices:

Scientific Interest

There have been reports of an amphibious sentient species in the remote parts of the Southern Ocean. Popular media called these 'mermaids'. The existence of these creatures remain open to doubt, and official Government-sponsored scientific expeditions to the region reported that they "..failed to find any convincing evidence..." have concluded that they "...100% do not exist".

Geography

Y26 is a world of strong geographical contrasts, with broad temperate continents separated by the deep Orison Ocean and the colder Southern Ocean. Most distinctive are the northern basalt plateaus, immense dark uplands formed from successive ancient lava flows, cut by steep escarpments and narrow river gorges. Southwards, the land descends into the fertile Vespara Plain, crossed by several large meandering rivers and extensive wetlands. The equatorial Madrigal Forest forms a dense belt of humid jungle surrounding the mountainous Kestrel Spine, whose highest peaks retain permanent snow. West of the mountains lies the arid Purple Desert, characterised by gravel plains, exposed rock and isolated salt lakes. The southern continent is dominated by the windswept Ground Highlands, descending through fjords and rocky islands into the stormy Southern Ocean. Its remote waters contain numerous reefs, submarine ridges and isolated archipelagos, including the Pelagian Islands, around which persistent reports of an unidentified amphibious sentient species have originated.
