W23
Independent colony in Quadrant 7
W23 is an independent, resource-poor colony world with a subsistence-level economy. Its settlers struggle with harsh environmental conditions and limited trade opportunities, relying primarily on local agriculture, small-scale mining, and intermittent off-world aid. Political stability varies across its four colonial groupings, each with different governance styles and external affiliations.
Colonial Groupings and Leadership
National Mountain of the East (Non-Constitutional Monarchy – Investment from Hat Yay Sirukit) Led by King Channarong Suriyan – Ruler of the isolated mountain kingdom, Suriyan claims divine and hereditary authority. His rule is absolute, though advisors exert significant influence behind the scenes. The monarchy's primary focus is on cultural preservation and limited trade agreements.
Advanced Sub-Continent of the North (Limited Democracy – Investment from Ratanakosyn) . led by First Minister Kanya Phanuphong – A pragmatic reformist, Phanuphong seeks to attract off-world investment but faces opposition from traditionalists wary of foreign influence. She has pushed for infrastructure development but has limited resources to implement major reforms.
National Expansion of the West (Limited Democracy – Investment from Interstellar Spaceball League Inc.). Led by Governor Elias Tarmak – Originally a sports entrepreneur, Tarmak has struggled to transition into political leadership. His administration focuses on maintaining public morale through sports and entertainment, despite economic hardships. Critics argue his government lacks real economic planning.
People's Lake Company (Limited Democracy – Investment from Mars Securities Incorporated) Led by Director-General Adelei Biran – Formerly a Mars Securities executive, Biran runs the colony like a business, prioritizing efficiency and security. While this has led to relative stability, colonists complain of limited political freedoms and strict corporate oversight.
Religious Demographics
The majority of W23’s settlers are atheist, but a sizeable Taoist minority maintains religious traditions, particularly in National Mountain of the East, where Taoist teachings influence governance and social customs.
