Interstellar Association for the Advancement of Science for the Benefit of Mankind (IAASBM)

The Interstellar Association for the Advancement of Science for the Benefit of Mankind was founded in 3053 by Professor Jorge Biron of Mir Q0.

The goal of the Association was laid down as "the pursuit of Interdisciplinary Positivist Science, the exchange of its theory, practice and teaching amongs academics and the support of scientific education to lay people as a means of disseminating its beneficial application for mankind."

Soon after its foundation it received a generous yet controversial donation from the renowned Kalashnikov Stiftung, which caused the exit of part of the membership. However, since then the association has been able to operate on the annual donations from its members and the receipts from its interstellar 'Columbia Channel' and an associated range of Tri-Vids covering nature and science topics.

The Association is an interstellar organisation and active in most major polities in the Humiverse. As an international interest organisation of scientists, it critically examines procedures and legislation wherever it interferes with the pursuit of science. As such it has successfully campaigned against the Human Genetical Engineering Prohibition Law in the Union of Xyon in 3094 and the Creationism Act for the Wolfer Commonwealth in 3124.

The Association publishes The Interdisciplinary Review of Positive Science (IROPS)
