Energy Deflector Lens

An expensive warship system that is designed to deflect plasma attack from PAD-class weapons. Its primary disadvantage was the high degree of directionality, which was hard to maintain during a space battle and the high energy demand from the ship's power systems.
After a few years in vogue, it has not been deployed operationally on warships for more that a century and is widely regarded as ineffective and obsolete.
