Space pirate bases are typically hidden in remote system locations, such as asteroid belts, moons, or derelict stations, leveraging natural terrain for concealment. Their defences range from improvised weaponry, such as retrofitted merchant vessels armed with [Heavy Cannon]s, to fixed emplacements like missile batteries and [HELL] turrets. Advanced bases may also deploy drones or employ electronic countermeasures (ECM) to disrupt attackers. While not as sophisticated as military installations, their defences are formidable against lightly armed or unprepared forces. These bases often rely on organised crime syndicates for resources, hinting at external support that enhances their operational and defensive capabilities.
