!!Background
**Kite** is a small, geopolitically complex colony world located in Quadrant 7. Despite repeated attempts at development, its history has been marked by instability, depopulation, and environmental vulnerability. Initially settled in 3225, Kite was briefly abandoned between 3230 and 3234, before being resettled under a patchwork of competing colonial charters. By 3237, it had stabilised into a fragile **subsistence-level economy**, with five distinct colonial groups, each backed by separate corporate or ideological sponsors.

The planetary political landscape is fragmented, encompassing military dictatorships, corporate oligarchies, limited and representative democracies—each vying for influence and survival in a resource-scarce environment. Major backers include The Disney Corporation, CyberWeb Construction Inc., Barnaby Orbital Industries, and Mega Policing Incorporated. Despite this corporate influence, local governance remains mostly autonomous and is often shaped by religious identity. The **Way of Enlightened Humanity** and the **Universal Church** are the two dominant faiths, often providing parallel systems of community leadership and support.

A pivotal event in recent history was the **3237 tsunami**, which nearly annihilated the Green Oceanic Colony. Only the swift arrival of MAFC humanitarian and military forces averted total collapse. This intervention has positioned the MAFC as a stabilising external actor and potential future patron in Kite’s uncertain trajectory.

**Yellow Advancement Republic** (Military Dictatorship - initial investment from The Disney Corporation)
The Yellow Advancement Republic (YAR) is a newly established military dictatorship, led by Commander-General Matrak D’Silva and governed by the transplanted ideology of the Order of Solar Ascendancy. Originally forged in the orbital barracks of a failed mining colony, the Order’s doctrine emphasises security through hierarchy, discipline, and sacrifice. The colony was settled in 3235 with personnel and equipment airlifted en masse from a former asteroid fortress. Upon arrival, YAR imposed martial law and constructed prefabricated garrisons in the southern uplands. Social organisation follows strict military rank, and citizens are expected to serve before claiming full rights. The colony’s political culture is inward-looking, suspicious of non-military colonists, and prone to rhetorical hostility toward "degenerate democracies." While nominally secular, the Order maintains cultural hostility to both major religions on Kite, which it views as rival sources of authority. Despite their short tenure, YAR’s security patrols are feared and respected across regional borders.

**Original Progressive Kingdom** (Corporate Oligarchy - initial investment from The Disney Corporation)
The Original Progressive Kingdom (OPK) represents a fast-deployed corporate enclave transplanted from a failed brand-republic on Z140. Led by Chief Director Malvina Trusk and the Brand Sovereign Unity faction, OPK arrived in 3235 aboard three automated cargo fleets and immediately established a centralised corporate-administered settlement on Kite’s fertile plateau. The colony operates through tight bureaucratic control and algorithmic governance, importing social credit systems, promotional culture, and performative democracy. Its residents are mostly mid-level technocrats and lifestyle migrants recruited from earlier Disney-funded colonies. OPK’s leadership sees Kite as a blank canvas for renewing its vision of an efficient, optimised society. Religious expression is tolerated as long as it enhances social cohesion; both major faiths have been assigned “wellness roles” in community outreach. Despite surface order, there are signs of discontent among second-wave settlers, many of whom feel alienated by OPK’s artificial civic rituals and relentless corporate messaging.	
	
**Green Oceanic Colony** (Limited Democracy - initial investment from Barnaby Orbital Industries)
The Green Oceanic Colony (GOC) was intended as a sustainable, democratically governed commune drawing its settlers from ecologist cooperatives on Meo and Korrmanshar. Arriving in early 3236, the GOC’s founding generation was barely established when the tsunami struck its coastal settlement later that year. Much of its original infrastructure—solar farms, algae-processing stations, water-purification domes—was destroyed. Surviving leaders, including current President Arjuna Kell, have struggled to rebuild with limited resources and deep trauma. The Council of the Tides, GOC’s semi-formal governing body, operates under a rotating chairship drawn from community guilds. Since the disaster, a vocal faction known as the New Wave Coalition has called for full integration with the MAFC, crediting Martian relief teams with saving the colony from extinction. GOC’s culture draws heavily on the Way of Enlightened Humanity, which now provides psychological care and spiritual leadership. It remains a moral centre for displaced communities despite its diminished material position.	
	
**God's Sub-continent Syndicate** (Representative democracy - initial investment from Mega Policing Incorporated)	
The God’s Sub-continent Syndicate (GSS) is a unique colonial group on Kite, comprising the returned descendants and political heirs of an earlier failed settlement on the planet. Originally established in the mid-3220s as a social experiment backed by Mega Policing Incorporated, the first GSS colony collapsed in 3229 amid food insecurity, equipment failure, and internal factional disputes. Survivors were evacuated to the nearby orbital station MSI-112, where the community preserved its identity in exile.

In 3237, with improved technology and a renewed corporate charter, the Syndicate returned to Kite under the leadership of First Minister Parvati Jadhav, re-establishing itself in the fertile eastern river valleys. The governing body, the United Renewal Assembly, draws heavily on democratic traditions honed during exile, while spiritual life is deeply rooted in the Universal Church, which many settlers credit with preserving cohesion during the diaspora years.

Despite modest material assets, GSS has quickly gained moral authority among Kite's fractured colonies. Its parliamentary model encourages interfaith cooperation and civic participation, and the Assembly has already convened planetary conferences to coordinate relief and diplomacy. However, limited infrastructure and ongoing refugee pressures threaten to overwhelm its fragile renaissance. GSS aspires to peace—but remains vulnerable to disruption.
	
**Red Expedition Kingdom** (Corporate Oligarchy - initial investment from CyberWeb Construction Incorporated)
The Red Expedition Kingdom (REK) is the most recent colonial transplant to Kite, arriving in late 3235 after evacuation from a failed deep-drill operation on Spud. Funded by CyberWeb Construction Inc., REK is governed by the Board of Royal Exploitation with Director-General Holt Sefrin wielding executive power. The colony operates as a resource extraction node, having rapidly established fortified enclaves and vertical mines in Kite’s western highlands. REK imported its rigid corporate-feudal social model wholesale, with settlers assigned caste-like labour roles and subject to strict production quotas. Worship is officially prohibited in the workplace, and both major religions are kept under tight surveillance. Despite its exploitative systems, REK’s logistical assets—drones, tunnel boring machines, and heavy transport—are unmatched, giving it disproportionate influence over planetary development. Sefrin’s regime is accused of using the tsunami chaos to seize disputed lands and has begun constructing a rail corridor with little regard for consent from neighbouring colonies.
