!The Crying Baby Statue **Official Name:** *Memorial to the Lost Children of Humanity* **Common Names:** *The Crying Baby*, *Potato’s Folly*, *The Weeping Child* **Location:** Central Memorial Plaza, [Disney World], [Quadrant 0] **Constructed:** 3205–3207 **Height:** 24 metres **Commissioned by:** President Alphie Potato (GFA) [disneycryingbaby.png] The **Crying Baby Statue** is one of the most recognisable monuments within the [Greater Federation of Asteel] and among the most controversial memorials in human space. Located in the capital city of [Disney World], the statue was commissioned by President **Alphie Potato** following the end of the catastrophic **Exterminator War**, which caused immense civilian losses across multiple quadrants. The monument depicts a giant stylised toddler seated on a plinth, crying openly with exaggerated cartoon-like features typical of Disney World civic architecture. Streams of water emerge continuously from the statue’s eyes, forming a large ornamental fountain system beneath the monument. The base bears the inscription: *“In Memory of the Millions Lost in the Exterminator War”* President Potato reportedly insisted the design should evoke emotional discomfort rather than heroic triumph, arguing that “war memorials should make people sad, not proud.” The resulting monument immediately divided public opinion. Supporters regard the statue as a powerful anti-war memorial and an important symbol of civilian suffering. Critics have long derided it as grotesque, manipulative, or politically self-indulgent. It rapidly acquired the nickname **“Potato’s Folly”** among opponents of the President. Over time, however, the statue became an iconic cultural landmark. Memorial ceremonies are still held annually at the plaza, especially on Exterminator War Remembrance Day. The site is also a major tourist attraction, with visitors often leaving toys, flowers, and personal messages around the fountain base. The statue has become deeply embedded in wider human culture and conspiracy lore. Various conspiracist groups—including *C-Anon* and *BALLS OF ASTEEL* commentators—have claimed the tears conceal hidden surveillance systems, psychic transmitters, or encoded coordinates to secret wartime archives. None of these claims have ever been substantiated. Despite periodic calls for its demolition, the Crying Baby Statue remains one of the defining visual symbols of the post-war GFA era.
