Pacifier:  A single-pilot (or robot) controlled small, highly manoeverable space fighter.  Armed with a variety of weapons options, including HELL, missiles. multi-cannon etc.  These are the mainstay of the carrier fleets, and essential defenders of orbital stations. There has even been a Long Range Pacifier designed with its own hyperspace drive, but this became regarded as an expensive and rather pointless toy.

PAD: Plasmatic Annihilation Device - a high energy plasma weapon fitted as the main armament of capital ships.

'Perfects':  Members of humanity who have, or who are directly descended from genetically engineered, perfect individuals.  These represent the best humanity can make - intelligent, physically fit, resistant to disease etc. Obviously they are the best suited to important jobs like the military, judiciary and political leadership.  (Non-perfect, 'naturals' do the other jobs - but they're happy.........)

PIPS: (Plasma Internal Penetration System)  A specialised type of Heavy Missile warhead that is designed to maximise internal damage to a target warship.

Plasmatic Sentinel. A ship with a single huge super-PAD-class weapon. The prototype blew up, and whilst working versions did exist in the early 3100s they were very unstable and very highly specialised.

Pointies. Slang term of abuse for ciziens of the Mald Democratic Foundation. Generally thought to refer to the popular depiction of them in cartoons etc as having pointy heads (containing the additional brainpower they are supposed to have, presumably). On the whole Maldenites have little time for such frivolity and ignore insults.

Pratt. An independent world in Quadrant 1. Member of the Seven Worlds Defence Alliance. Pratt has a ruling Diet. This is directly elected by the population. There are four main political parties; Live Free Party, First Pratt Party, Democracy and Freedom Party and the Community Party. Politics are fairly complicated due to the direct voting system. Governments are usually formed as a result of deals and political coalitions common. In 3207 the President of the Diet is Katelynn Mathiew.

Psi talents: (see also Telepathy)
There has, for centuries, been efforts to prove or disprove the existence of exceptional mental power in humankind. After many years of being a minority issue, the question has gained some public interest in the last 30 years or so. There has been an increase in claims of exceptional powers - though proof remains elusive. Psi talents can allegedly take many forms, from simple telekinesis (TK) thorough telepathy, pyrokinesis (PK) and even claims of teleportation (TP).
No proper scientist takes any of this seriously.

Psychohistory. The science of historical motivation, combines the insights of psychotherapy with the research methodology of the social sciences to understand the emotional origin of the social and political behavior of groups and nations, past and present. The center of psychohistorical research is the Interstellar Institute for Psychohistory, which is headquartered in the campus of the famous Humanity Institute on Great Spirit. It has branches in just about every major world.

Pymm, Dr Henry. Genius and polymath who was responsible for designing and building the rogue AI, Vision in Quadrant 3. He was arrested by Alliance forces, but killed during violence that broke out unexpectedly at his trial.
