Heavy Cannon.  An important secondary weapon on naval warships.  The heavy cannon's short effective range is made up for by the damaging effect of it's depleted uranium penetrators.

Heavy Cruiser:  The smallest class of capital warship.  Anything it can't out gun, it can out run.

Heavy Missile (Heavy Radar Guided Missile).  One of the main heavy long range offensive armaments.  This has a semi-active homing system that locks on to the target ship and follows it until it gets close enough to detonate.  These missiles are large and pack a considerable punch.  Salvos of heavy missiles are regarded as ship-killers.

Heavy Mobility Armour. (HMA). Complete body environmental laminar powered armour. The suit is airtight and had environmental controls, HUD and a vast array of military electronics. This is the standard battle suit of the Ground Force (GF) infantry battalions. It provides a very stable fire platform, is fast moving and extremely tough.

Heavy Pacifier. 2-crew pacifier with more weapon load, but much less maneuverable.

Heebs. Slang term of abuse for those born on Agama. Sometimes applied generally to any citizen of the UNion of Xyon. This is regarded as very insulting.

Heinlein, President. Highly popular young president of the Venerian Republic. Nobody knows his first name.

HELL:  A High Energy Laser Light weapon fitted as a standard offensive armament to pacifiers and light warships, armed merchant and the like, and as a secondary weapon for capital ships in either fixed mounts, limited traverse sponsons or turrets.

Home Worlds:  The inhabited worlds in the centre of Quadrant 0, that represent the worlds that have been occupied by humanity for th elongest time - including the home of mankind - Sol.

Hostile Exterminator Builders (HEB). The recently discovered species of aliens, some 2,000 parsecs away from human space, who are believed to be the original builders of the Exterminator machines that terrorised humanity between 3196 and 3200. Practically nothing is know about the HEBs.

HoverCar. Very fast, lightly armoured combat vehicles with a couple of smart missiles and a gatling cannon.

Hoverboarding. A very popular sport among the youger generation, particulary from poorer areas, where a hoverboard is often the only form of personal transportation juves can afford. The sport of hoverboarding has a strong following, and competitions, both legal and illegal are held on most worlds. There is even a Universal Hoverboard Championship. The most common championship game is a sort of obstacle race - the Board Run. There are also the more harcore variants - Freestyle, Extreme, and the highly illegal No Rules Racing. The current NRR Hoverboard champion is the notorious 'Freezer', who is wanted by a number of police departments across human space.

HoverBus. Very fast armoured troop carrier, with gatling cannon

HoverGun. Lightly armoured vehicle with a long range gun on it.

HoverRLS. Lightly armoured vehicle with long range rocket launcher on it.

Hovertank. Fast, well armoured combat vehicles mounting 'smart' anti-hovertank missile launchers, gatling cannon and an array of clever ECM and other whizzy stuff (I'll make something up later, as needed). Moves using ground effect system, and can cross most terrain and 'hop' vertical obstacles up to 4 metres high (with a short run-up).

HSD (Hyperspace Drive):  The only system capable of transporting ships between stars at faster than light speeds through hyperspace.

Humiverse Academy. Location Pastpers Q1. Director Professor Amanda Marcos.
The Humiverse Academy is a university open to students from all polities. Grants are provided to students of proven excellence from independent systems. For this a test system will be developed. The Humiverse Academy offers courses in Colonial Administration, Interpolity Law, Colonial Development Economics, Intercultural Studies and is specifically aimed to provide students who aim for a career in administration and politics an international outlook and the high level of skills required for such a career. It is also hoped that by bringing all these students together it aims to increase mutual understanding and create a sense of goodwill and cooperativeness that will in time improve relations between the independent systems. For financial reason students from quadrants 1,2 and 8 will have priority for grants in the first period.

Hyperspace Field. This is generated by a Hyperspace Field Generator and the key part of the hyperspace drive. Currently there is no way of opening a working HS field into hyperspace that can be used within the M25. It is possible to create tiny fields within an M25 but only if they are contained within a hyper-resonance containment field. The type of HS field used by all human communications and transport have to 'contain' the appropriate equipment, and this is impossible within an M25. The consequences of opening a larged, uncontained HS field with the M25 limit are usually catastrophic.

Hypergolf. A popular sport among the rich and idle. Played in specially constructed asteroid fields, the players attempt to negotiation special aluminium-clad iron balls around a stable course of especially (anc carefully) positioned asteroids. Players are no allowed to use targetting systems, and have to use skill and judgement to hit the ball round the course, allowing for the microgravity of the interventing rocks. Special additional hazards are constructed by placing magnetic 'traps' on some of the asteroids to affect ball trajectory deflection, and by placing slow moving dust fields in lagrange points between some rocks.

Hyperlynium⁴¹⁵:  The super-heavy artificial element necessary for the functioning of the Hyperspace Field Generator - essential for faster than light travel.  This can only be synthesised in very expensive high-tech factories.
