Capital Ships: The largest types of warship, generally the 'heavy hitters' of the fleet, which means Heavy Cruisers, Battleships and Carriers. Also known as 'line of battle' ships sometimes. In the recent Exterminator war, these were the only types capabable of close action against Exterminator Super Battleships (and even then, only for a short time).

Carrier:  A specialised warship, capable of carrying 8-16 'pacifiers' - a sort of high-powered space fighter.  These provide essential striking power ot the fleet, although the carriers themselves are vulnerable to direct attack. With the Battleship, they are a key capital ship for the space fleet.

CashChips(TM). Handy portable credit units, used as legal tender throughout human space, and backed by the major interstellar banks.

C-Cannon Ship. Super high velocity linear accelerator gun mounted on a specialised ship. Rather antique. Easily countered by modern weapons, and even when it was being considerd, it was regarded as much too specialised. Also the cannon itself was about 1km long, so only it could only be an interplanetary ship.

Centauri Conglomerate:  Formed from the original exploration companies that exploited the first colonies on Alpha Centauri, the original companies, Mizu Zaibatsu, NASA Corp and Solartech have now dissapeared as separate entities, but their corporate philosophies have remained in the political life of the Conglomerate.

Centissimo: Local name of the main colony world orbiting Dohla III (Q7). Centissimo is the Earther Empire quadrant capital for Quadrant 7.

Cerebro: The codename of an illegal AI developed in the OVER system by a group of Esteeler criminals in 3199. The AI was attacked and destroyed by Martian Forces under the terms of the Stickney Treaty. The local GFA Governor, Alphie Potato, was implicated but cleared of all wrongdoing.

Chaff.  A warship system for distracting targeting radars and absorbing some incoming energy from DEW.

Chocolate Mousse Jacuzzi. It has become an open secret that the hedonism of the current GFA president, Alphonse Potato, has created all manner of opportunities within the leisure and personal services industries within the greater Federation. Most famous of all, is the President's personal Chocolate Mousse Jacuzzi - a practice he allegedly brought with him from the flesh-pots of Quadrant 5. It is rumoured that he has invited many foreign dignatories to join him in the 'CMJ' (as it is known in Hexagon circles) - so much so that it is said that he does more diplomacy when up to his hips in mousse than at any other time.

Church of the Latter Day Mukuls. A fanatical religion whose primary beliefs relate to the wisdom of their Prophet, Mukul, and his dicates on the evils of artificial intelligence. Extreme COTLDM believers have been known to take this to the point of planting explosives in robot factories and attacking known AI specialists in their homes. Click here for a detailed history of the religion.

Clewg, Adepts of: A religious sect dedicated to improvement through criticism. See here for longer article.

Close Support Robot. (CSR). A non-humanoid support robot that carries a supply of Anti-Personnel Guided Weapons (APGW) and provides the fire support for starship marines in their close quarter battle within the corridors or starships. Optimised to operate in zero-g and hard vacuum, these are not normally used planetside.

Corporate Raider. A name used, unofficially, for a class of specialised armed merchant ship designed to protect merchant shipping lanes from piracy. More properly known as Armed Merchant (AMI)

Corporations:  Much of the economic and colonisation activity in the Universe is supported by the big corporations.  These are often multi-national, and therefore difficult for governments to control.  In fact many believe that it is the corporations that control governments.

Colony Ships. Specialised transport ship designed to carry everything that is needed for a self sustaining colony in one lift, and was converted into a small orbital at the end of the trip. These became obsolete a couple of centuries ago as better methods of colonisation emerged.

Combat Robot. A humaniod robot, armed with an SCA, programmed to provide support to the starship marines in combat aboard starships. The CR's job is normally to draw fire or enter potential ambushes first (since they are dispensible). Optimised to operate in zero-g and hard vacuum, these are not normally used planetside.

Count Commander of the Imperium Order (CCIO): The highest rank of Earther nobility (short of being Emperor, obviously). Generally referred to as Count or Countess.

Count Down. A poor colony in Quadrant Zero. Despite it's relitive poverty, the inhabitants of Count Down are fiercely independent. A founder member of the League of Independent Worlds.

Currency. The Interstellar Monetary Unit (IMU - known colloquially as the 'credit') has been around from several hundred years. In addition, some of the minor colony worlds operate their own currencies - where they have not been able to trade sufficiently to attract banking services from one of the Big Seven interstellar clearing banks. Some nations do have internal currencies based on specific worlds - usually for historical reasons. Most famous is Earth's unwillingness to completely give up it's ancient currency, the Dollar, and fully integrate with the IMU for domestic trading - arguing that such an integration would be giving up an important area of soveriegnty.

Cyborg Humans:  Cyborging - or the ability to graft technological enhancements onto the human body has been around for some time.  Humanity as a whole tends to prefer to be perfect but human, rather than a mixture of human and machine (just as most people would rather have perfect eyesight than glasses).  It tends only to be the psychotic personality that chooses to, in effect, self-multiate by adding cyborg components to their bodies.
