First Red Spot
Quadrant 6, Grid 681943, Turn 7 (Stardate 3200.160)

Historical Background
This battle was against one of the huge Exterminator bases to be encountered by human forces during 3200. The scouting reports indicated that incredibly high levels of Viking production were going on here. The fleet commander on the spot, Admiral Philips, decided that bold action was necessary - since waiting for the pending Martian and Venerian reinforcements was going to take too long. He ordered OPERATION FAST BALL - a hit and run raid on the Exterminator shipbuilding facilities.
This resulted in 3 of the 8 enemy shipyards being destroyed.

Forces involved:
Earther : BBI Attila the Hun (Flagship), BBI Idi Amin, CVI Guevara, BBI Moshe Dyan, CVI Bolivar, CAI Apollo
Esteeler : CVI On Line Help (Flagship), CVI God Wills It, CVI Final Frontier

Mission Profile:
The Human fleet used it's slight advantage in interplanetary manoeuvrability to go round the exterminators, and attack the enemy shipyards.
The battle is set up with the human fleet, the shipyards and the 6 defending ESBs equidistant from each other (i.e. the position after the human fleet has 'dodged' the intercepting ESBs.
Humans must destroy as many shipyards as possible in the time. Unnecessary capital ship losses are to be avoided, because they will be needed for a subsequent battle when the other allied fleets arrive.

Historical Losses: All the Esteeler carriers escaped with light damage but lost all pacifiers and their pilots. The Earther forces lost the Moshe Dyan (destroyed), the Guevara, Bolivar and Apollo (captured). The Attila the Hun and the Idi Amin were both damaged and are in need of repair.
