| 153rd Earther Marine Regiment Training Report GR125/R7 Green Group - Major Howland; Training Exercise on Hulk GR125, Stardate 9611.19. Present: Major Howland , Major Wallman (Regimental training officer) Lts Rutherford (C), Nilsson, (B) Cornelius (Visitor, acting A), Peacekeepers Kemp and Pickles. The exercise took place in a 5001 Training Suite and consisted of three Marine squads attacking a 'Exterminator' simulated force strength 20/50 using the SimFire system. Result was victory with initial high casualties, and achieved more slowly than the Regiment would be assumed to be content with. Tactical Analysis produced the following points. 1. Be prepared for early casualties. Clear airlock zone quickly to allow all squads to be deployed. 2. Use a whole squad for all tasks if possible. Do not separate teams (or individuals!) 3. Keep up momentum of movement. Charging defenders can be worthwhile if you outnumber them. 50% casualties acceptable for major tactical gains. 4. Throw plenty of grenades; supplies are ample for most ops. 5. Remember that robots can neither paint targets for APGW nor throw grenades. They should go first into a room. 6. Danger area often both internal sides of a newly-opened door. Grenade both sides and those first in (usu. robots) turn to cover them. 7. Blow all doors, even if open. May be a trap later. 8. Avoid bunching if there is any risk of incoming grenades. 9. Cover all unsecured directions and unopened doors at all times. 10. Exterminator tendency to send in reserves when progress is slow can be exploited to make rear attacks. 11. Doors may be blown by two or three APGW rounds as well as by charges. 12. IFF means no risk of friendly fire so when in doubt, shoot. EXCEPTION: hostages? 13. Use grenades on clankers, and paint armoured targets for APGW if available, ahead of using SCA II. Use SCA III at once.
