Mission Briefing
The colonial government of New Union Colony on Lakshmi has big problems
with organised crime - so much so that the centre of Spring City (the
major city of the colony) is virtually a no-go area to the authorities.
The New Union Government has mustered the remaining loyal COPs and militia
in an attempt to close down the organised Crime in the city and reclaim
it in a major assault called Operation Fumigate.
Key to this plan is the capture and securing of the rapid transit terminus
from the gangsters. The gangsters have their own hired muscle and are
likely to be heavily armed - though the opposition at the Terminus is
expected to be lightweight.
The capture of the Terminus will also send an important political message
to the citizens of Spring City.
The operation is under the direct control of the Commander of the New
Union Militia, General Aurelius F Watney.
The security operation to restore order to Spring City will involve nearly
5,000 loyal militia and police, backed up by a few light armoured vehicles.
All the main approaches to the city will be assaulted, and while the gangsters
are responding to those assaults an elite team, with mercenary support
will capture and hold the main monorail terminus. This will allow substantial
reinforcements to be delivered into the centre of the city, effectively
turning the flank of the gangsters and hopefully breaking their morale.
Allocated forces
The Militia Forces of New Union Colony have gathered a force of experienced
volunteers for the assault phase of Op Fumigate. These consist of :
· 10 militia from the New Union North County. These are experienced
soldiers, all formerly GF soldiers from the Earther colony of
· 20 experienced Cops from Spring City - formerly members of the
Spring City SWAT team.
· 30 militia soldiers selected as most experienced/capable from
over 200 volunteers.
Equipment and weapons
It has been difficult to import modern weaponry to the colony (it isn't
very wealthy). They do have the following:
As many assault rifles as you like.
10 x SLA2
2 x G-Launcher
60 suits of Light Tactical Armour (pretty much the militia's entire stock).
2 suits of Heavy Mobility Armour (not very good condition).
Opposition
The enemy all have assault rifles and/or pistols. So far as we know they
have no heavy weapons or decent military kit, but are numerous. They have
a lot of relatively untrained gang 'peons' who are often given drugs before
combat, making them somewhat difficult to demoralise.
Some trained militia have been bought by the gangs too, so there will
be a smattering of reasonably trained troops - but they are not fighting
for a cause, so their morale is likely to be brittle.
There are estimated to be over 2,000 gang members in the city, but most
of them are guarding the various roadblocks covering approaches to the
city. Our spies tell us that there are no more than around a dozen in
the monorail station.
