1. THE STRATEGIC PROBLEM
(a) The direction(s) that the Exterminators are moving through the quadrant is unknown.
(b) Whether they have bases in Quadrant 7, let alone their location, is unknown.
(c) Their method of selecting target colonies for destruction is unknown.
(d) Methods of locating Exterminator units
2. LINES OF ENQUIRY
(a) Firstly: to search the non-aligned colonies in Quadrant 7 to determine which have been destroyed. Secondly: to estimate the StarDate when the destroyed colonies were attacked. Thirdly: to determine the direction that the Exterminators are moving through the quadrant.
(b) To search the destroyed colonies' systems, the Dark Nebula (perhaps a convenient source of reaction mass), and any 'likely' looking star system along the Exterminators' route.
(c) Investigating the 'Patel' unit captured at 116AL.
(d) Decoying Exterminator units into ambushes.
3. CURRENT OPERATIONS
(a) OP WILD GOOSE includes the searching of non-aligned colonies. OP POST MORTEM is to establish a means of estimating when a planet was bombarded to destruction by a BSB. Two Earther scientific survey ships are engaged on this task.
(b) OP WILD GOOSE
(c) No new analysis is currently available.
(d) OP JEWEL (Esteeler) and OP SIREN SONG (Earther) are building automatic, unmanned transmitters to decoy Exterminator units.
